"These paintings endeavour to map out a zone where abstraction and representation co-exist. They are a rhythmic sequence of natural forms fleetingly borne in paint, before dissolving into the neutral surface. A dreamscape is evoked; re-occurring settings devoid of human presence, inhabited only by the flitting shapes of trees. These tree forms echo the movement and shapes of figures instilled throughout the history of painting, yet they are indistinct, dreamlike and faceless forms. These paintings illustrate the morphing landscape of dreams coloured by the internal dialogue of the dreamer, and the extension of this into waking hours as psychological projection onto the spaces that we inhabit."
