Gallery 9 is proud to present the first in a series of exhibitions presenting some of the most exciting practitioners in the broad yet lesser-known field of contemporary non- objective art.

Gallery 9 has invited five artists whose practices are centered around painting but also incorporate installation and new media and while the exhibition will focus on painting it will also present a sound installation by Melbourne based Michael Graeve. Also featuring works by well known local artists Lynne Eastaway, Adrian McDonald and Giles Ryder as well as Queensland based Kyle Jenkins, non objective project one will focus on non-narrative, non-representational artworks which embody avant gardism in post 20th Century painting. While the works vary greatly in their execution, all are created as negotiations of materials, line, colour, form and surface and together conference ideas about the history of art and future of painting.
