MISHKA BOROWKI

Mishka Borowski renders domestic moments of ‘still life’ as spiritual epiphanies. In one series, toys (for example, My Little Ponies) are arranged in a significant order by the complex logic of children. Huge plastic eyes gaze vacantly across at us. Streams of light are refracted by the acrylic manes of the ponies and rest upon their lolly pink surfaces enlivening these otherwise static objects. Borowski also captures the residue of more adult moments: crumbling vintage cheese and half drunken bottles of fine wine, glistening in the Parisan daylight, while their consumers presumably make hay while the sun shines.
