STAGE JOB

19 November – 29 November 2014

JELENA TELECKI

Jelena Telecki’s third exhibition with Gallery 9 presents a series of five new paintings. As with her previous bodies of work, the dramatic subjects of the works in Stage Job stem from the artist’s devoted interest in history, film and theatre.

For Telecki, her paintings depict still images drawn from what she describes as ‘movies-in-the-head.’ They are composed from moments which have been partly lived and recalled as memories, and partly imagined. Both real and unreal, these moments are recorded only through the process of painting and so, for Telecki, her paintings are the stage on which her memories and imaginings are played, acted and danced out.
